CLIX 2.4.0.0
Sell a man a fish when he really needs to know how to fish himself, andyou're ripping him off. Then too, there are times when he needs you tothrow him a line.
CLIX ('command line interface for OS X') makes it easier to harness thepower of Unix. It becomes both a fish to buy and a series of lessons inhow to fish, and ultimately can become a handy work of reference.
It doesn't try to rip you off - it tries to teach you, so you becomemore independent and don't need that line thrown at you all the time.
The CLIX package includes a starter command database file with over 1,500(one thousand five hundred - yes, you read it right) system commands forinvestigating your system status, for cleaning out your junk files, forgetting at secret settings for the Dock, the Finder, and all of yourmost used applications - and all sorted for easy access, any way youwish.
You also gain access for the first time to the tens of thousands offiles in your BSD subsystem.
If it can be done in OS X, it can be done in CLIX; if it can't be donein CLIX, it can't be done.
And most importantly, the CLIX system is infinitely extensible: you canadd to it at any time, and in any way you please.

LAME 3.100
LAME is a high quality MPEG Audio Layer III (MP3) encoder licensed underthe LGPL.
LAME development started around mid-1998. Mike Cheng started it as apatch against the 8hz-MP3 encoder sources. After some quality concernsraised by others, he decided to start from scratch based on the dist10sources. His goal was only to speed up the dist10 sources, and leave itsquality untouched. That branch (a patch against the reference sources)became Lame 2.0, and with Lame 3.81 all of dist10 code was replaced, making LAME no more only a patch.
The project quickly became a team project. Mike Cheng eventually leftleadership and started working on tooLame, an MP2 encoder. Mark Taylorbecame leader and started pursuing better quality in addition toincreased speed. He can be considered the initiator of the LAME projectin its current form. He released version 3.0 featuring gpsycho, a newpsychoacoustic model he developed.
In early 2003 Mark left project leadership, and since then the projecthas been lead through the cooperation of the active developers(currently three individuals).
Today, LAME is considered the best MP3 encoder at mid-high bitrates andat VBR, mostly thanks to the dedicated work of its developers and theopen source licensing model that allowed the project to tap intoengineering resources from all around the world. Both quality and speedimprovements are still happening, probably making LAME the only MP3encoder still being actively developed.
